We acquired TechVariable. US Healthcare Technology just got more interesting.

At Spark Eighteen, we have always believed that healthcare is one of the most consequential places you can build technology. Not because of the market size (though it is enormous) but because the stakes are real. When healthcare software fails, it is not a UX problem. It affects care delivery, clinical decisions, and patient outcomes.

And yet, some of the most critical healthcare infrastructure in the US barely communicates with itself.

Electronic health record (EHR) systems that do not integrate cleanly. Interoperability standards that look good in documentation and break in production. Value-based care models that make perfect sense on paper and struggle to execute at scale.

That is the problem TechVariable has been solving for years. That is exactly why we acquired them.

Why TechVariable? Why now?

TechVariable is not a company that discovered healthcare recently. They built their entire practice inside it, working with US healthcare organisations on the hardest parts of the stack: EHR integration, interoperability, and value-based care use cases that actually ran in production.

We know this because we worked with them.

Before an acquisition conversation ever started, Spark Eighteen had already seen TechVariable operate inside a complex healthcare project. What struck us was not just the output. It was how they thought about the problem, the domain knowledge behind every engineering decision. That kind of understanding does not come quickly. It does not come from reading documentation either.

When the acquisition conversation started, it was not about convincing anyone. It was about recognising what they had already built, and where we could take it together.

Who built this

Ratnadeep Chakraborty co-founded TechVariable and spent nearly a decade inside US healthcare technology. Not as an observer. As the person responsible for delivery. For the integrations that had to hold up. For the clients who could not afford downtime. For a team that had to stay credible in one of the most demanding software environments that exists.

The best part of this acquisition is not just the work TechVariable brings. It is who comes with it.

Ratnadeep joins Spark Eighteen as Vice President, Business Development and Sales.

That title matters less than what it actually means: he has been in the room when healthcare CTOs explain what is broken, and he has been the one who went back and fixed it. When he walks into a conversation now, he is not learning the problem in real time. He already knows what broke, why it broke, and what it actually takes to fix it. That means Spark Eighteen no longer walks into a healthcare brief trying to understand the domain. We walk in already knowing what needs to be built, what does not, and where the real risk sits.

What TechVariable actually built

US healthcare interoperability is genuinely hard. Not “enterprise software hard”. Specifically, structurally hard.

EHR systems behave differently across hospital networks. Integration standards shift. Edge cases that look theoretical in testing become critical in production. The only way to really know where the system breaks is to have built things that broke and then fixed them.

TechVariable built EHR integrations that held up. Value-based care use cases that moved from requirement to live system. Interoperability work across multiple clients, in real clinical environments, under real compliance pressure.

That experience does not sit in documentation. It sits in the people who built it. Those people are now part of Spark Eighteen.

What this changes

Healthcare has been a serious focus for us for years. We have built revenue cycle management (RCM) systems, patient data infrastructure, analytics platforms. We know where the complexity lives.

TechVariable adds depth in exactly the areas our healthcare clients have needed us to be stronger in: EHR integration and interoperability. It also adds new client relationships and a business development leader who can have the right conversations in the US healthcare market from day one.

We are not just announcing an acquisition. We are expanding what Spark Eighteen can actually do for healthcare organisations, end to end, in production, where it counts.

The US healthcare market needs engineering partners who genuinely understand it. We are better positioned to be that now than we were a month ago.

To the TechVariable team, you built something that matters in a domain where that is genuinely hard to do. We are glad to be building the next chapter together.

This is just the beginning.
